Should students get held back

I think the students will get upset since they wont be in any classes with there friends. There for they will become deppressed and will also be angry since they failed. There for they will not focus on there work. So they will fail again and it will keep repeating.

In the article it states that it ruins kids selfasteem if they fail which means they will be upset. I showed that in the introduction and opinion paragraph. It is the same for kids doing cross country because if the kids dont win or get a good place they will get upset and want to give up.

The students in cross country get participation ribbons after finishing a race , which is the officials way of making kids less upset. I talked about cross country because it is an example of why students should not get held back, like cross country the kids have worked hard and deserve a reward or in this case passing a grade.

If you were to fail students they will be mad and they will not try in class. So they will end up being 25 years old in grade 9. Secondly you will fail in low grades so there will be less people in the older grades.

That is why i think students should not get held back.
